Kāpiti Food Bank Drive – We Need Your Help!

Next week, we will be holding a Food Drive to help top up the shelves at the Kāpiti Food Bank. This is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to show kindness and support to local families in need.

The Food Bank has given us a priority list of items that are especially needed:

Soup (cans)
Pasta sauce
Canned fish
Pasta and noodles
Canned spaghetti and baked beans
Refreshments – tea, coffee, sugar
Spreads – jam, honey, marmite, peanut butter

We would love your support! Please bring any donations to school from Monday to Thursday next week. Every item, big or small, makes a real difference.

Just a reminder - Online Safety and Supporting Your Children at Home

At Our Lady of Kāpiti School, all students have signed a Cyber Safety Agreement to guide safe, respectful, and responsible online behaviour. Just a gentle reminder, following a few recent events, that the best results come when school and home work together.

How you can support at home:

Talk Together: Have regular chats about what your child is doing online.
Check & Guide: Know the sites/apps they use and set clear boundaries.
Teach Respect: Remind them that kindness and responsibility apply online too.
Stay Alert: Keep an eye out for inappropriate content, cyberbullying, or oversharing.
Report Concerns: If you see worrying behaviour or content, take action and seek support.

HANDS-ON ECO FUN THESE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

These school holidays, Ngā Manu is hosting a series of hands-on, family-friendly events that inspire a love for nature and sustainable living. From building cosy bug hotels to cooking with the power of the sun, and enjoying a heartwarming puppet show, there’s something for everyone.

You can also join us for our daily Lil' Explorer trail, eel feeding plus our experiences throughout the holidays including: the Native Bird Close Encounter and Kiwi Night Encounter.

LOVE TENNIS - Open Day to be held at Paraparaumu Beach Tennis Club,

on Sunday 7th September, commencing at 10am-2pm.

It’s a free ‘have a go day’ where all ages and stages of players are encouraged to visit the club and give the sport a go.

Club Coach, Leonie Ware will lead fun filled afternoon tennis, with youngsters given an opportunity to try tennis Hot Shots with mini courts, nets and low compression balls.

There’s the chance to test skills against a ball machine or simply have a hit. Racquets will be available to use, there will be a free sausage sizzle and club members will be on hand to help get newcomers sorted.

Club Court One will host some demonstration games, including the chance to try cardio tennis – a popular new take on the sport that enables participants to hit lots of tennis balls while having a great cardio workout.

Paraparaumu Beach Tennis Club is currently sorting out its interclub teams for the new season so this is the time for emerging or returning players to take a look at the club and sign up for the new season. The club enters around 10 interclub teams from novice juniors to senior teams.

The range of club days, social competitions, coaching, cardio tennis, interclub and business house tennis on offer makes tennis a rare sport in catering for everyone.
