Week 7, Term 1 2025

Kia ora whānau,

As the term progresses, we’ve noticed an increasing number of children arriving late to school. While an occasional late morning happens, frequent lateness can have a real impact on your child’s learning and wellbeing.

Did you know that being just 12 minutes late every day adds up to an hour of lost learning every week? Over the course of a year, this amounts to a whole week of school missed!

Being late means children miss out on vital instructions, disrupt their classmates, and can start their day feeling unsettled or left out. Arriving on time—at least 5 minutes before the 8.50 am bell—gives your child the chance to connect with friends, prepare for the day, and settle into learning smoothly.

Regular attendance and punctuality are important life skills that set children up for success, both at school and in the wider world. Let’s work together to build strong habits that will benefit our tamariki now and in the future.
